The Shorn + Meridene + Church of the Holy Rifles |
Indie/rockers The Shorn hail from Eau Claire. Part throw-back to the '80's Minneapolis rock scene (Husker Du, The Replacements, Soul Asylum), part alt-whatever (Uncle Tupolo, Golden Smog, The Pixies). Throw in some Petty, Bowie and a dash of "hipster". Now add a theremin, a turtle and a yard gnome. No genre, no rules. A good song is a good song, period. We call it Rock and Roll.
Indie/power-pop group Meridene returns to the Stones Throw stage. Their Myspace page describes their sound like “that one guy from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, not the one your thinking of, the other one. Also, Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk in its entirety, with the pauses as Lindsey Buckingham intended.” Who can argue with that? The group is working on a new album that is anticipated to be released later this fall. |

Kanser
w/Fathom + TBA
|
| South Minneapolis hip-hop outfit Kanser formed in the summer of 1995. The group's first release was recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder in 1997, which began a long tradition of the groups DIY spirit. Kanser, since 1998, is part of Interlock, a hip-hop organization which also includes Traditional Methods, Twisted Linguistics, and Odd Jobs. Kanser's self-titled album was released in 2005. In April of 2008 they released their new album on Interlock Records “Future Retro Legacy.” |

The Radiators |
| The Radiators were born during a transitional decade in the history of New Orleans music. The Meters, the premier funk band, had disbanded, the Neville Brothers formed, and in 1980 Professor Longhair, the father of New Orleans R&B and spiritual embodiment of Crescent City Soul had passed on. This decade would prove to be the fertile period of development when a unique blend of rhythms and sounds came together and "Fish Head" music was born.
The Radiators are a true rock n' roll band, loyal to the concept of ensemble playing. They rely solely on the spirit of the music and lyrics (coupled with the band members' natural rapport) to create "the show".
